Live Your Dream: Education & Training Awards

The Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards, Soroptimist's major service project, were established by Soroptimist International of the Americas in 1972 to assist women entering or re-entering the workforce in obtaining the education and skills training they need to improve their employment status. Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards are designed to give women heads of household, who provide the primary source of financial support for their families, the opportunity to achieve their career goals—an opportunity they have not previously had, whether because of economic or social barriers, or personal circumstances. These awards are for women who are attending, or have been accepted to, a vocational/skills training program, or an undergraduate degree program.

Soroptimist International of Harrisburg, a service organization for women, will accept applications for their Live Your Dream award until November 15th.  The purpose of this award is to assist women in obtaining skills and education needed to improve their employment status.

To be eligible, applicants must be a female head of household attending an undergraduate degree program or a vocational/skills training program and need financial aid.  Our club is offering two awards:  The first place winner receives $1,000 and the second place winner receives $800.  The award is sent directly to the school.  In addition, the winner is advanced to the Regional and Federation levels to complete for additional awards.  Each year approximately $1 Million is disbursed through this major service project of Soroptimist International of the Americas.
